Season 1 ended in dramatic fashion as Tully quit her talk show after the sleazy Wilson King took over production and she pitches the idea of a new show to Kate, who Tully asks to be the producer. However, the season ends with a flash-forward to the funeral of Bud Mularkey, Kate’s father, and it’s clear that something has happened between Tully and Kate to cause the pair to fall out and drift apart. Despite middling reviews and a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 47%, the series had attracted viewers in their millions with Netflix announcing that 49 million people had streamed the series within its first 28 days, which the streaming giant clearly felt justified more episodes. Details about the season 2 plot have not yet been revealed but Tully and Kate’s falling out looks set to be at the centre of the new episodes. According to CinemaBlend, the Firefly Lane book saw the duo fall out when Kate was asked to appear on Tully’s talk show, believing that they would be discussing one issue when, in fact, they would be talking about “overprotective mothers and the teenage daughters who hate them,” something very close to Kate’s heart. Obviously, the story in the series has played out a little differently, which should keep viewers on their toes. NetflixSeason 2 release date and filming schedule The exact release date has yet to be announced but Firefly Lane season 2 is slated to arrive in 2022. The 2022 release window was reported by Variety when season 2 was first announced. However, judging by the filming schedule for season 2, Firefly Lane could well arrive in the latter stages of 2022. According to the Directors Guild of Canada, season 2 is slated to begin filming on August 30th, 2021 with production continuing until April 20th, 2022. Filming on season 1, meanwhile, concluded in January 2020 according to the same source but the episodes themselves didn’t release until February 2021, a gap of 13 months.
